Don’t miss out on the first annual “Parade of Farms”
The first Annual “Parade of Farms” presented by Oahu Resource Conservation and Development Council includes an open house at the Hawaii Agricultural Research Center, farm and agricultural business tours and an afternoon pau hana reception at Manulele Distilleries.
Throughout the day there will be 3 distinct tours that share experiences with the full spectrum of agricultural businesses and activities in the region. The “Our Food” tour will feature local farms and a tour of the Kunia Plantation Village project. The “Our Products” tour will share the manufacturing processes at Oils of Aloha, Manulele Distilleries and the Pacific Gateway Commericial Kitchen; these products add value to an agricultural crop. And the “Innovations” tour will include visits to agricultural businesses adopting new technologies that are key to the success of agriculture in Hawaii.
The Hawaii Agriculture Research Center will host an open house where participants will be greeted and enjoy hands on family friendly activities including cacao processing (bean to bar) and coffee and honey tasting. Informal tours and fresh farm lunches will be available.
The open house is free. Reservations and tickets are required for the tours and can be purchased on-line at http://oahurcd.org/parade-of-farms/ or call (808) 622-9026. Ticket prices range from $15 – $25.
